Major risks & safety

Living beside a river is something special — and it also means understanding the risks. Here is everything you need to know, in full transparency.

1. Flood risk — Le Rozier flood prevention plan (PPRI)

Camping Brudy sits on the bank of the Tarn, in an area covered by the Flood Risk Prevention Plan (PPRI) of the municipality of Le Rozier. The Tarn can rise quickly after heavy rainfall over the Cévennes (Cévenol episodes, mainly in autumn).

Monitoring and alerts

  • Daily check during the season of the VigiCrues — Le Rozier hydrometric station
  • Registration with the municipal alert system (sirens + telephone alerts from the authorities)
  • The VigiCrues app is recommended on your phone

Evacuation procedure

If an alert is issued (orange or red level), an evacuation protocol is put in place:

  1. Announcement by the campsite team (door-to-door + local siren)
  2. Move to higher ground: secondary car park located in a non-floodable zone (200 m away, on the plateau), or Le Rozier town hall (official assembly point)
  3. Evacuation of vehicles and personal belongings by the occupants
  4. Shut-off of electricity and gas by the campsite team
  5. Return permitted only once the authorities give the all-clear

Recommendations for campers

  • Read the internal rules displayed at reception and the evacuation sheet handed to you on arrival
  • Locate the evacuation route (yellow signs on site)
  • Do not set up if an orange or red VigiCrues bulletin is in force for the Tarn basin
  • Take out holiday insurance covering natural disasters

2. Fire risk

The Causses are an area of high forest-fire risk in summer. During the dry season (June–September), prefectural orders may ban the use of fire (barbecues, smoking outdoors, etc.).

  • Barbecue: permitted only at the dedicated areas (charcoal, gas). Wood fires are forbidden.
  • Cigarettes: to be stubbed out in the ashtrays (never on the ground)
  • Fire extinguishers are placed at every key point (washrooms, reception, bar)
  • Check the forest-fire risk map before every hike

3. Swimming

Access to Brudy Plage (the river) is at your own risk. Swimming is not supervised.

  • Children must be supervised at all times by their parents
  • Beware of changes in flow if water is released from a dam upstream
  • Extra caution after heavy rain (murky water, current)
  • Armbands and life jackets are strongly recommended for non-swimmers
